Experienced Arborist - Wellington

We have a position for an experienced and/or qualified Arborist. The work will involve a variety of tasks through all facets of the arboricultural industry, across the Wellington region.

Day to day activities include:

  • Formative pruning
  • Tree removal
  • Stump grinding and removal

To be considered suitable for this position, it is preferable that you:

  • Are a skilled arborist who is either qualified (National Certificate in Arboricultural (Level 4) or have a minimum of 2 year’s relevant industry experience
  • Hold a current HT license minimum Class 2 or the ability to gain this licence
  • Have a strong work ethic and have a production focused personality, with a willingness to learn
  • Have a good level of fitness, are a team player with a positive attitude

Experienced Utility Arborist - Wellington

Asplundh provide professional, safe and cost effective services to our loyal customers who range from local councils and power companies, to private businesses and the public.

We are seeking an experienced Utility Arborist to be based out of our Wellington depot.

You will:

  • Be a skilled arborist who is either qualified (National Certificate in Arboricultural (Level 4) or have a minimum of 2 year’s relevant industry experience
  • Be a competent operator of an EWP
  • Ideally hold a current HT licence, minimum of Class 2
  • Have a strong work ethic and have a production focused personality, with a willingness to learn
  • Have a good level of fitness and be a team player with a positive attitude
  • Be drug free
  • Have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit which is valid for at least one year

Labourer / Fixtures Assistant - Wellington

Asplundh provide professional, safe and cost effective services to our loyal customers who range from local councils and power companies, to private businesses and the public.

We are seeking a Labourer / Fixtures Assistant to be based in Wellington, to perform a variety of duties to maintain the upkeep of our recreational areas.

Your duties will include:

  • Monitor all aspects of playground facilities including cushion fall, sand pits, shade structures and equipment
  • Develop and implement inspection schedules while adhering to all reporting requirements
  • Identify hazards, including any vandalism or accidental damage and respond appropriately
  • Conduct minor repairs and part replacement to playground equipment including lubrication of locks, catches and bolts on all play facilities
  • Conduct weed eating tasks, as well as spraying, trail maintenance, grass mowing and other open spaces type works based as required

Ideally you will:

  • Have a passion for the outdoors
  • Be flexible
  • Be able to work in inclement  weather conditions
  • Have the ability to install small structures and able to work with a wide range of hand and power tools
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills

Operations Support Administrator - Queenstown

Asplundh are an industry-leading vegetation management company, providing professional, safe and cost effective services to our loyal customers, ranging from local councils and power companies, to private businesses and the public.

We are seeking an Operations Support Administrator with at least two years’ experience in office administration. Flexibility and a drivers license is required as this job may see you working out of either our Queenstown or Wanaka Depots.

A busy and varied work load, includes:

  • Reception and customer service support, administrative and accountancy work such as payroll and invoice reconciliation, typing, data entry, maintenance and management of information systems, raising invoices and purchase orders and more.
  • Providing support to managers in the delivery of internal projects, in the form of administration and coordination.
  • Office management: Ordering of office supplies, point of contact for telephone enquiries, taking meeting minutes and more.

 

While ongoing training will be provided our preferred candidate will:

  • Have a good grounding in office systems and procedures and excellent computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Have good written skills and able to create professional documents
  • Have proven experience in using document systems and software reporting tools
  • Have proven time management skills and the ability to think outside the box
  • Be an effective communicator and team player
  • Be motivated and hard-working, with a "can do" attitude

Gardener - Alexandra

We are seeking a Gardener to be based from our Alexandra depot.

You will be responsible for a variety of duties including; weeding, mulching, planting, laying turf, pruning and mowing.

Duties include:

  • Planting, pruning and removing trees and shrubs
  • Spraying for the prevention of weeds and eradication of pests, fungus and insects harmful to plants, trees and shrubs
  • Maintain paths and track surfaces from weeds using chemicals
  • Leveling and racking of turf and gardens
  • Trimming edges, cutting and cleaning up uncontrolled weeds
  • Mowing areas using a ride on lawn mower

You will:

  • Have a passion for gardening
  • Have broad plant knowledge, experience with landscaping and the safe use of agrichemicals and fertilizers
  • Be able to work in various weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Be fit and healthy with a positive attitude
  • Be confident in using and maintaining gardening equipment
  • Hold a Full Drivers Licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle

Our Queenstown and surrounding depots (Wanaka and Alexandra) often have permanent and fixed term opportunities available for Gardeners, Mower Operators and Horticultural Labourers.

Duties include; weeding, mulching, planting, laying turf, pruning, mowing and weed eating.

Ideally you will:

 

  • Have a variety of experience in horticulture
  • Be fit, strong and healthy Be flexible and enjoy carrying out a variety of tasks

Landscape Foreman - Queenstown

We are seeking a Landscape Foreman with at least three years recent experience to be based primarily from our Queenstown depot.

You will be responsible for coordinating crew(s) in landscaping operations, instructing and scheduling employees and overseeing equipment operation. You will need to ensure all duties under your charge are conducted to meet contract specification.

This includes: both all general hard and soft landscaping works, including but not limited to the construction of landscape structures, enabling works, drainage installation, concrete and aggregate surface construction, garden bed development, irrigation installation and the maintenance of developing established landscaped areas.

Ideally you will:

  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience and/or hold qualifications in landscaping (minimum level 4 standard qualification)
  • Be flexible and enjoy carrying out a variety of tasks
  • Have a passion for the outdoors and landscaping
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Have digger operation experience
  • Be confident in using and maintaining garden care equipment
