Track Maintenance

Location: Queenstown

To be considered suitable for this position, it is preferable that you:

Company Accountant

Location: Pukekohe

Reporting to the Managing Director with a technical relationship with the overseas based Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the full accounting process in support of multiple nationwide operations and continual business growth. This is a varied and “hands on” role that includes, but is not limited to:

  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial and management reporting
  • Preparation of monthly US report pack
  • Oversee AR and AP processes (separate role)
  • Reconciliation of Balance Sheet and Inter-company accounts
  • Preparation of all GL transactions
  • Accurately maintain Fixed Asset System
  • GST/FBT/PAYE tax returns
  • Preparation of annual returns
  • Playing an integral role in the implementation of a new finance and reporting system
  • Providing support to senior nationwide managers through timely data preparation and analysis

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be degree qualified

Experienced Contract Manager - Pukekohe

Location: Waikato Depot

We are a private, family-owned organization with a worldwide presence. Our clients range from local councils and power companies, to private businesses and the public.

A Contract Manager is required to lead and oversee the diverse day to day operations of our Waikato Branch, based in thriving Pukekohe. Reporting to the Auckland Area Manager you will be providing strategic direction and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of our work based operations. Proven leadership experience specifically in Horticulture or Arboriculture will be looked upon favorably.

Your duties will include:

  • Implementation and monitoring of all Company Policies and initiatives
  • Operations management:
    • Oversight, implementation and monitoring of systems, ideas and strategies with the view to increase effectiveness and efficiency of our day to day operations
    • Ensure that all resources, including sub-contractors, work in a safe manner and in compliance with Asplundh Policies, Codes of Practice, Best Practice and Statutory obligations
    • Ensure that all fleet compliance and maintenance schedules are maintained and that they present the Asplundh image in a positive manner
  • People Management:
    • Enable and assist the Managers in your team to achieve the objectives set
    • Lead by example
    • Be an active listener (this is a consultative role)
  • Financial management:
    • Oversight and monitoring of the day to day financial status of the Contracts and application of management initiatives to keep these on track
    • Financial forecasting
    • Smart pricing, planning, organising, managing and finalising all Contract work schedule requirements
    • Complete all cost tracking, reporting and billing in a timely manner, within prescribed deadlines
    • Procurement; broker good price points with local suppliers
  • Client Management:
    • Ensure that all aspects of the Contracts compliance are satisfied
    • Engage with our Clients to leverage the optimum outcomes at all times, creating positive, on-going relationships
  • Management of Health and Safety:
    • Demonstrate an active and consultative commitment to all areas of health, safety and environmental management
    • Monitor the Auckland region’s progress in Health and Safety and take steps to actively manage shortcomings

You should:

  • Have at least 2 years experience in a similar management role – not necessarily in the vegetation management industry
  • Hold a minimum of a Class 1 full NZ Drivers licence
  • Be computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Have proven financial management and forecasting skills
  • Be a listener and be able to evaluate various views to provide unbiased outcomes

Operational Contract Manager - Auckland

Location: Auckland

To support continued regional growth, we are seeking an Operational Contract Manager to lead several multi-million dollar contracts and operations within the Auckland region. Reporting to the Regional Business Manager and managing direct reports who are significant industry leaders, you will be responsible for all aspects of client and contract operational success, as well as developing contract and supporting company strategic growth plans. This role will lead the delivery of client outcomes through safe, efficient and well planned use of allocated and shared resources. Previous experience within the vegetation management field is not essential for this position.

The position outcomes include:

  • An established and engrained safety culture that enables ‘Safe Production’ across all allocated operations,

  • Continual implementation and monitoring of Company Policies and initiatives,

  • Effective implementation, oversight and monitoring of systems and strategies that continually improve operations and client outcomes,

  • Efficient resource management (including sub-contractors) that increase effectiveness and efficiency of operations and client outcomes,

  • Effective total fleet and equipment maintenance strategies to ensure maximum leverage and compliance,

  • Exceptional workforce engagement and delivery of employer of choice objectives through successful workforce management, development and succession planning, as well as targeted recruitment,

  • Accurate and detailed contract and operational financial management including budgeting, work programme revenue calculation, cost and spend analysis.

  • Thorough knowledge of all operational financial elements linked with proactive operational management to achieve client and company financial objectives,

  • Continual smart operational cost minimisation including supplier management and negotiation, and

  • Active and effective client management to ensure delivery of optimum outcomes and value for money solutions to the clients at all times, creating positive, on-going relationships.

 

You should:

  • Have at least 2 years of experience in an Operational Contract Manager (or similar) ,

  • Hold a minimum of a Class 1 full NZ Drivers licence,

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook,

  • Have demonstrable financial management and forecasting skills,

Site Traffic Management Supervisor

Location: Auckland

We have an awesome opportunity for a ‘practicing’ Site Traffic Management Supervisor L2/3 (STMS L2/3) who will be required to carry out support traffic management services in the Auckland Council area for our tree service operations.

If you like a mixture of being out on the work site and also being in the office this is for you. This position comprises of the drawing-up and submission of traffic management plans to Auckland Transport, driving of the traffic management truck and the setting up and the management of approved sites. You will need to be able to liaise with tree crews, the public and other contractors to achieve the best outcome.

You will:

  • Have excellent organisational and forward planning skills for our Auckland Tree Crews
  • Be able to work flexible hours when required – yes this could include in bad weather conditions!
  • Have a strong Health and Safety work ethic
  • Have a good level of fitness and be a team player with a positive attitude

Ground Operations Queenstown Lakes Area – Arborist /Landscaper

Location: Queenstown and Wanaka

Asplundh New Zealand has been the premier vegetation management and tree services Company in New Zealand since 1990. Our Head Office is based in Auckland while our operations span across the country employing over 200 staff.  

We are seeking to appoint a range of permanent and fixed term roles based throughout the Queenstown District. 

To work as part of a team and carry out all landscaping arborist tasks to meet the contract specification for the construction and design of landscape and tree work. It includes: landscape design, construction of landscape structures, the planting and pruning of landscaped areas and maintenance developing and established landscaped areas with additional duties relating particularly in a municipal environment but also for private clients.

To be considered suitable for these positions, is is preferable you:

  • A NZ Register Level 4 qualification or at least three years of relevant work experience.
  • NZ Certificate in Horticulture (Level 4) or equivalent.
  • National Certificate in Horticulture (Advanced Landscape) or Arboriculture
  • NZ Diploma in Landscape Design (Level 6)
  • Diploma in Arboriculture or Landscaping
  • Level 3 National Certificate in Cemeteries
  • Growsafe Certificate
  • Handlers Certificate
  • Class two license
  • Have the National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 4) and/or a Turf Management equivalent qualification.

Physical requirements:

  • Medium to very heavy physical demand
  • Workers will need to spray fertilisers and pesticides on an occasional to frequent basis.
  • Medium to very heavy lifting and carrying of ornamental rocks, trees, shrubs and landscaping materials is frequent.
  • Driving is likely to be required for travel to work-sites and the use of machines such as rollers and excavators
  • The use of hand tools both manual and mechanical is likely to be frequent.
  • Mental activities necessary include creative, practical, organisational and problem­ solving skills. 

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, communication and time management skills, basic computing skills. You must be hardworking, able to work alone and manage others. Previous experience at a lodge, hotel or similar environment is essential. A HT licence is not essential, but would be preferred.
