Gardeners, Mower Operators and Labourers

Location: Queenstown

Our Queenstown and surrounding depots (Wanaka and Alexandra) often have permanent and fixed term opportunities available for Gardeners, Mower Operators and Horticultural Labourers.

Duties include; weeding, mulching, planting, laying turf, pruning, mowing and weed eating.

Ideally you will:

  • Have a variety of experience in horticulture
  • Be fit, strong and healthy Be flexible and enjoy carrying out a variety of tasks
  • Have a passion for the outdoors and gardening
  • Be able to work in inclement  weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Be confident in using and maintaining garden care equipment
  • Hold a Full class 1 Drivers Licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle

While not essential the following are a bonus:

  • A National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3)
  • A current GrowSafe and/or current First Aid Certificate
  • A HT licence, minimum of Class 2

Grounds Foreman

Location: Wanaka

We are seeking a Grounds Foreman with recent experience to be based primarily from our Wanaka depot.

You will be responsible for coordinating crew(s) in ground keeping operations, instructing and scheduling employees and overseeing equipment operation. You will need to ensure all duties under your charge are conducted to meet contract specification. This is a fixed term position.

Ideally you will:

  • Have a variety of time served experience and/or hold qualifications in horticulture or landscaping
  • Be flexible and enjoy carrying out a variety of tasks
  • Have a passion for the outdoors and gardening
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills

Bid Leader

Location: Remuera

Asplundh delivers utility, council, commercial and private clients integrated vegetation asset management solutions that deliver the often rapidly changing client outcomes. We are a safety driven organisation, and are proud of our ISO9001, ISO14001, AS/NZS4801 and ACC WSMP Tertiary Level certifications.

We are currently looking for a Bid Leader to join our Remuera based team.

This role will support the General Managers of the North and South Island in preparing new tenders, to place us as the best in the market to win new business. There will be plenty of scope to the role, where you will be able to showcase your research, writing and communication skills and present well researched, exceptionally detailed and stand out tender documents.

To be successful in this role you will need to be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously, but at the same time you need to be a team player. You must be comfortable in driving projects with multiple stakeholders in order to achieve a successful outcomes.

This role will particularly be of real interest to recent graduates with a relevant qualification (Marketing or Communications) who have an excellent standard of written English. Proven work experience in research, writing, bid or tender experience will be of interest but not essential, what is more important to us is your self-motivation, drive for quality, results orientation and the ability to provide tailored solutions to our customers

The key duties include:

  • Supporting the General Managers 
  • Research, collate and manage information for tenders
  • Ensuring tender and project information is appropriately stored and kept confidential
  • Write clear and accurate copy
  • Editing skills
  • Organising meetings and presentations
  • Involvement in post tender submission reviews
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

To be successful in this role you ideally have the following:

  • Proven research skills and preferably some experience writing proposals or briefs, or some other relevant marketing or communications experience (a marketing degree would be advantageous)
  • Ability to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strategic thinking, planning and coordinating ability
  • An excellent eye for detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate – word, powerpoint and publisher (or similar) are essential
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • An understanding of project management principles with the ability to work under pressure
  • Some bid/proposal experience would be advantageous
