Utility Arborist Foreman - Tauranga

We are seeking an experienced Utility Arborist Foreman to be based out of our Tauranga depot. The key focus is on delivering the lines clearance works required by our clients network vegetation management programme.

You will:

  • Be a skilled Utility Arborist with a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience
  • Be safety focused
  • Be experienced in leading, or ready to lead, an arborist crew
  • Be a competent operator of an EWP
  • Ideally hold a current HT licence, minimum of Class 2
  • Have a strong work ethic and have a production focused personality, with a willingness to learn
  • Have a good level of fitness and be a team player with a positive attitude
  • Be drug free
  • Have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit which is valid for at least one year

Grounds Foreman - Mangere

We have a full time permanent position for a Grounds Foreman to carry out weed eating, as well as spraying, mowing and other open spaces type works based as required. You will be based out of our Mangere depot and will supervise and lead a small team.

You must:

  • Hold a Full class 1 Drivers Licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Have a good level of fitness and be a team player with a positive attitude
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Be able to work in various weather conditions
  • Be fit and healthy with a positive attitude
  • Be confident in using and maintaining garden care equipment
  • Previous experience leading a small team is a bonus

While not essential the following are certainly advantageous:

Gardener - Alexandra

Asplundh provide professional, safe and cost effective services to our loyal customers who range from local councils and power companies, to private businesses and the public.

We are seeking a Gardener to be based from our Alexandra depot.

You will be responsible for a variety of duties including; weeding, mulching, planting, laying turf, pruning and mowing.

Duties include:

  • Planting, pruning and removing trees and shrubs
  • Spraying for the prevention of weeds and eradication of pests, fungus and insects harmful to plants, trees and shrubs
  • Maintain paths and track surfaces from weeds using chemicals
  • Leveling and racking of turf and gardens
  • Trimming edges, cutting and cleaning up uncontrolled weeds
  • Mowing areas using a ride on lawn mower

You will:

  • Have a passion for gardening
  • Have broad plant knowledge, experience with landscaping and the safe use of agrichemicals and fertilizers
  • Be able to work in various weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills

Grounds Foreman - Wanaka

We are seeking a Grounds Foreman with recent experience to be based primarily from our Wanaka depot.

You will be responsible for coordinating crew(s) in ground keeping operations, instructing and scheduling employees and overseeing equipment operation. You will need to ensure all duties under your charge are conducted to meet contract specification.

Ideally you will:

  • Have a variety of time served experience and/or hold qualifications in horticulture or landscaping
  • Be flexible and enjoy carrying out a variety of tasks
  • Have a passion for the outdoors and gardening
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills

  • Stump grinding and removal

To be considered suitable for this position, it is preferable that you:

  • Are a skilled arborist who is either qualified (National Certificate in Arboricultural (Level 4) or have a minimum of 2 year’s relevant industry experience
  • Hold a current HT license minimum Class 2 or the ability to gain this licence

Buildings and Maintenance Foreperson - Queenstown

We are seeking a Buildings and Maintenance Foreperson to be based out of our Queenstown depot. You will lead a small team of two staff. This is a fixed term role, commencing asap and concluding 31/01/2018.

Your duties will include:

  • Assist in planning, assigning and scheduling crews engaged in the maintenance of district parks, recreation facilities, streetscapes and district facility grounds.
  • Demonstrate and teach proper work methods and techniques to Employees.
  • Coordinate a variety of maintenance tasks including painting, carpentry and plumbing. Maintain all park furniture such as litter bins, seating, picnic tables, play facilities, BBQ’s boardwalks, pedestrian bridges, fences and gates.
  • Plan and organise materials ahead of time to ensure work is carried out in the most effective manner, meeting contract specifications.
  • Identify, investigate, respond and resolve “Requests for Service” within specified response times.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and prepare preventative maintenance reports.

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience in this field (some training will be provided),
  • A willingness to learn,
  • Exceptional personal skills and a good work ethic (for dealing with the community and interacting with the public),
  • A clean criminal record (we will check this), and
  • Computer skills, in particular Microsoft Excel will be an advantage (for reporting back and collecting data on these jobs).

Spray Operator - Queenstown

We are seeking an experienced Spray Operator to work from our Queenstown depot. You must have a current Growsafe Registered Chemical Applicators certificate and experience with spraying. You will need to be physically fit as there is a lot of walking involved. Other non spray application task will be required when weather is not suitable for spraying or spraying cycle is completed. The position is fixed term commencing Tuesday, 1st August 2017 and concluding Wednesday, 31st January 2018.

Landscape Team Member - Queenstown

We are seeking a Landscaper with at least one years recent experience to be based primarily from our Queenstown depot.

Working with a small team you will be involved in the construction and maintenance of landscape sites throughout the Lakes District. Works include both all general hard and soft landscaping works, including but not limited to the construction of landscape structures, enabling works, drainage installation, concrete and aggregate surface construction, garden bed development, irrigation installation and the maintenance of developing established landscaped areas.

Ideally you will:

  • Have a minimum of one years’ experience and/or hold qualifications in landscaping (minimum level 2 standard qualification)
  • Be flexible and enjoy carrying out a variety of tasks
  • Have a passion for the outdoors and landscaping
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Have digger operation experience
  • Be confident in using and maintaining garden care equipment
  • Hold a Full class 2 drivers licence as well as WTR licences (preferable)

Mower Operator - Queenstown

We have an awesome opportunity for an experienced Mower Operator responsible for maintaining grounds in the Queenstown area. The work involves but not limited to mowing of grassed areas, litter removal, edging treatment and weed control. The position is fixed term commencing Wednesday, 30th August 2017 and concluding Wednesday, 31st January 2018.

You will:

  • Have a passion for the outdoors and take pride in your work
  • Have a strong understanding of health and safety practices
  • Be able to work in various weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Have a minimum of 1 year experience in this field of work (and not just your own lawns!), using various mowing equipment
  • Have a current HT licence minimum Class 2 with W, T R endorsements
  • Be a team player with a positive attitude
  • Be drug free
While not essential the following are certainly advantageous:
  • A National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3 or higher)

Sports Turf Operator - Alexandra

We have an awesome opportunity for an experienced Sports Turf Specialist responsible for maintaining grounds across and parks around the district of Central Otago. The work involves but not limited to; mowing/edging, irrigation, spraying, line marking, pest, disease and weed management, turf renovation, and preparing cricket wickets up to a first class level.

You will:

  • Have a strong understanding of health and safety practices
  • Be able to work in various weather conditions
  • Have an excellent work ethic, reliable transport and exceptional time management skills
  • Have a minimum of 1 year experience in this field of work (and not just your own lawns!), using various mowing equipment
